Are You Truly Okay? Or Just Saying You Are?
I want to ask you something important—how are you? Really.
I ask because, if we’re being honest, a lot of people aren’t doing so great right now. Life is busy, overwhelming, and filled with endless demands. But amidst all that, I think it’s worth taking a moment to pause and consider some hard truths—truths that deserve our attention and action.
The State of Our Health: A Reality Check
50% of U.S. adults have a chronic illness. The CDC reports that more than half of us have been diagnosed with a chronic disease—many with multiple conditions. And that’s just those who have been officially diagnosed. How many more are suffering in silence?
68% of adults are overweight or obese. Carrying excess weight isn’t just about appearance—it’s often a sign of deeper metabolic imbalances. These imbalances increase the risk of chronic inflammatory conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, Alzheimer’s, and even complications from illnesses like COVID-19.
70% are on at least one prescription drug. The most commonly prescribed medications are for high blood pressure, cholesterol, depression, and digestive issues—many of which stem from lifestyle-related factors. And every prescription comes with side effects, often leading to a cycle of more medications.
80% of people are mentally or emotionally “not flourishing.” They’re just getting by, or worse, trapped in a life of quiet despair.
97.3% of adults don’t meet basic healthy lifestyle habits. This means:
Eating a balanced, nutritious diet
Getting at least 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous exercise weekly
Maintaining a healthy body composition (under 20% body fat for men, under 30% for women)
Not smoking
Getting quality sleep
Managing stress effectively
Maintaining strong, supportive social connections
How many people do you think consistently meet all seven of these? Less than 1% of U.S. adults. That’s an alarming statistic. And something needs to change—fast.
The 1% Who Are Choosing Health, Happy, and Thriving
What if I told you that prioritizing your well-being means standing out from the crowd? That making consistently healthy choices in a predominantly unhealthy culture makes you different?
Health is the Ultimate Act of Rebellion: Choosing Health in an Unhealthy World
We live in a society where being exhausted, overworked, and running on caffeine and stress is the norm. Where fast food, sedentary lifestyles, and digital distractions are the default. But social norms aren’t always in our best interest. They can pull us away from our own truth, making us forget who we are and why we’re here.
What if, instead of going along with the norm, you chose a different path?
What if you took back control of your vitality, energy, and freedom?
This means making intentional choices about:
What you eat and drink
How you move, rest, and recover
How you manage your energy, time, money, and relationships
How you engage with media and the world around you
But let’s be real—do things differently for long enough, and people will start to notice. You might get weird looks. You might even get pushback. Why?
Because in an unhealthy culture, choosing health is an act of defiance.
